Anxiety Therapy

Anxiety therapy for when your mind won’t stop running the worst-case scenario.

Anxiety isn’t always loud panic. Sometimes it’s the quiet hum of overthinking every text, every decision, every “what if.” However it shows up for you or your child, it’s exhausting to carry alone, and it’s not something you have to white-knuckle through by yourself.

Understanding Anxiety

What anxiety can look like

Anxiety wears a lot of disguises: racing thoughts at 2am, a stomach that won’t settle before anything unfamiliar, avoiding things that used to feel easy, snapping at the people you love because your nervous system is maxed out, a kid who suddenly won’t go to school or won’t leave your side. It isn’t always dramatic, and it doesn’t have to reach crisis level to be worth addressing.

Who this is for

Bryna sees clients age 2 and up. With the youngest clients, sessions center on play therapy paired with parent training and coaching, so what helps in the room carries into daily life outside of it. As kids get older, more experiential approaches come into the work: ways to explore anxiety and emotions that go beyond just talking about them.

This page is for children, teens, and adults whose anxiety is getting in the way of daily life, whether it’s a specific worry, a general sense of dread that won’t lift, or something that’s been there so long it feels like just “how you are.” You don’t need it to be severe to deserve support for it.

If a racing, anxious mind is tangled up with trouble focusing, following through, or sitting still, that overlap is common: our ADHD & neurodivergent-affirming therapy page covers that side of it, and one conversation can address both.

How Working Together Looks

Understanding the pattern before trying to fix it

We start by getting curious about what your anxiety is actually doing: what triggers it, what it’s trying to protect you from, and where it’s costing you more than it’s helping. From there, we build tools that fit your actual life, not a generic worksheet.

In person or from home

Sessions happen in person at our Plano office, or virtually. Bryna offers telehealth sessions anywhere in Texas. Your first step is a free 15-minute phone consultation, no video, no cost, no obligation; from there, sessions run 45 minutes.

Her Approach

Bryna’s approach to anxiety is grounded and collaborative, and it draws on more than one way of working. She starts from client-centered approaches (naming what’s actually happening in your body and your thinking, rather than working from a script), and for younger clients, that often takes the shape of child-centered play therapy, meeting kids in a mode that actually makes sense to them. She’s also trained in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and brings in experiential approaches, including art-based techniques, for anyone who processes anxiety better through doing than through talking. As an LMFT, she also brings a family-systems lens, which matters especially for anxious kids and teens, where what’s happening at home is often part of the picture.

Fees & Logistics

Your first step is a free 15-minute phone consultation, no video, no cost, no obligation. From there, sessions are $150 flat, every session, 45 minutes each, in person at our Plano office, or virtually, anywhere in Texas. Superbills are available on request for out-of-network reimbursement.

FAQ

Questions people ask.

What does anxiety therapy actually involve?

It starts with understanding your specific anxiety: what sets it off, how it shows up in your body and your thinking, and what you’ve already tried. From there, it’s building practical tools alongside a place to actually talk through what’s underneath the worry.

Do I need a diagnosed anxiety disorder to come in?

No. You don’t need a diagnosis, a specific disorder name, or a certain severity level to reach out. If anxiety is taking up more space in your life than you want it to, that’s reason enough.

How is this different from just talking to a friend?

Friends can be a huge support, but they’re not trained to help you understand anxiety’s patterns or build tools for it, and they’re carrying their own stuff too. Therapy gives you dedicated space, with someone whose only job in that hour is helping you.

How long does it take to start feeling better?

It’s different for everyone, and we won’t promise a timeline we can’t guarantee. Some people notice a shift within the first few sessions just from having a place to put the worry down; deeper patterns take longer. We’ll check in together as we go.

Do you work with anxious kids and teens, or just adults?

Both: Bryna sees clients age 2 and up. Younger clients work through play therapy alongside parent training and coaching, so what helps in session carries into daily life. Older children and teens bring in more experiential approaches to explore what’s underneath the anxiety. And yes, plenty of adults too.
