What Happens When You Reach Out About Reading Support

A plain walk-through of what happens after you contact us: from a free 15-minute phone consultation, through a reading and skills check where we talk through the results together, to your child’s first session.

1

You reach out. Call, email, or use the contact form, whichever feels easiest for you.

2

We talk for fifteen minutes, free. A short phone consultation to hear what you’re seeing at home or hearing from school, and to work out whether this is a fit. Nothing is decided yet.

3

We build the full picture, then check where your child actually is. We start with what you’ve noticed at home, what the school has shared, and any testing you already have on hand. From there, a short foundational-skills check, using screening tools meant to measure phonological awareness, reading, spelling, and comprehension skills, along with quick mastery checks, shows us where your child really stands, not a guess from conversation alone, so we can place them at the right starting point in the right program. This is a placement check, not a diagnosis; formal identification stays with outside evaluators.

4

We talk through what we found, right in that same session. No extra appointment needed. Once the check is done, we walk through the results in plain language and recommend a program and pace matched to your child, then and there. If you’d like to go further (reviewing school records, paperwork, or other information you have on hand), that’s what the optional extended consultation is for.

5

Your child starts. Sessions begin at the intensity and program that fit, not a default curriculum applied to every student.

Delivery, Logistics & Fees

Where: In-person at our Plano office, 7150 Preston Road, Suite 300, Plano, Texas 75024, our primary way of working with students. Virtual sessions are available by arrangement for families for whom that’s a better fit.

Consultation length: The free phone consultation runs about 15 minutes. The optional extended consultation runs 45–60 minutes.

Educational session length: Sessions run 50–60 minutes inside a 60-minute scheduled period. The extra time is built in for transition and wrap-up, not lost time. It’s part of how each session is set up to run smoothly, not a caveat.

Fees

Last reviewed: August 2026.

ProgramFee
Dyslexia Therapy with MTA$75 per session
Reading & Spelling Instruction$60 per session
Comprehension & Writing Support$65 per session

Session fees are billed per session at the rate for the program your child is matched to; see above for how session length works.

Your first step is a free 15-minute phone consultation: before you book anything, to talk through what you’re seeing. Some families go from there straight into sessions. If you’d rather sit down with the school records and paperwork first, an extended consultation is $40 (45–60 minutes), applied toward your child’s first session when you continue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to do anything before the first conversation?

No, just reach out. We’ll tell you what (if anything) to bring or prepare once we’ve talked.

Does my child need a formal dyslexia diagnosis before we start?

No. Many families reach out before any formal diagnosis exists; the reading and skills check (step 3 above) is part of how we figure out what’s actually going on.

What if we’re already working with the school on an evaluation?

That’s fine, and common. Private support and school-based support aren’t mutually exclusive. Mention where things stand with the school when you reach out, and we’ll factor that in.

How is this different from a general reading tutor?

See our dedicated page on tutor vs. dyslexia therapist training for the full answer; in short, it comes down to the credential and supervision behind the person working with your child.
