The Importance of Help

It has always been in the forefront of my mind that there are many people that know they require mental health care, but are not sure where to go.  This hit home for some in my circle this week.  My friends suffered a loss that could have potentially been prevented if their friend had been able to know he could have received free or low cost therapy.  When I heard this news, I took it upon myself to create a resource list for free or low cost counseling and mental health care in the DFW area.  I know some of you are not in this area, so if you know someone searching for these options, I am happy to help you find them. This list will be posted on my Facebook page as well as a document so that we can continue to add to it and amend it when needed.  If you know of any free or low cost therapy options, I urge you to comment about them so we can all take a look at them.

Mental health care is not an option.  There are going to be times that we all need help, and that is okay.  Sometimes the hardest part of therapy is finally deciding that you need it, and once you do, no matter what your financial situation, you should be able to receive the help you need.  My hope is that one day, we will all have access to the mental health care that we all deserve.  I wish you mental health on this Monday morning, and do not forget to take time to do something for yourself today.
